About the KSG Alumni Association

The establishment of the Kenya School of Government Alumni Association has remained a key focus of the council.

The Kenya School of Government Alumni Association was established on October 19, 2020, and registered with the Registrar of Societies as an apolitical society.

The Alumni association is envisioned to provide endless opportunities for all alma mater of the various campuses of the school to collate towards common objectives that range from productively/coordinated giving back to society, enriching the public service through shared experiences and knowledge, mentorship opportunities for younger public servants and documentation of the wealth of knowledge garnered over the years of service.

The Kenya School of Government Alumni seeks to harvest, harness, and utilize the wealth of experience across the public sector in readiness for documenting and transmitting to the public servants of today and the future years.

The association seeks to provide opportunities to spearhead world-class conferences, seminars, workshops, and publications on topical public policy matters for public and Government consumption. Further, the association will provide rich mentorship opportunities for young public servants, an important element in improving the future of public service.

  1. To provide continuous professional capacity and educational development programs for members.
  2. Provide avenues for productively/coordinated means of giving back to society e.g. supporting underprivileged students in selected schools.
  3. Enriching the public service through shared experiences and knowledge, mentorship opportunities for younger public servants.
  4. Documentation of the wealth of knowledge garnered over the years of service.
  5. Undertake research activities in collaboration with KSG’s centers for Research.

Meet the Alumni Leadership

Dr. Nicholas Kibiwott Letting’, Ph.D., EBS, HSC - Interim Chairperson

Dr. Letting is the Secretary/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB) is the immediate past Vice – Chancellor/Chief Executive Officer of the Management University of Africa (MUA). He joined KASNEB in May 2019. He is responsible for providing administrative, financial and strategic leadership roles to KASNEB fraternity. He is an elected member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS). He was Chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK) in 2014 – 2016. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS), a Fellow the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), a Fellow at the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Investments and Financial Analysts (ICIFA). He is a member of in good standing of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM). He is also a member of Council/ Board in ICPAK, ICS and ICIFA and chairs various Committees. He is the current Chairman of the Association of Professional Societies of East Africa (APSEA) where he previously served as Honorary Treasurer for four (4) years. He represents APSEA on the Board of Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (PSASB) and Treasurer with the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), Lower Eastern Region (LER). He studied Strategic Leadership Development Programme at the Kenya School of Government (KSG).

Dr Letting’ has over twenty-five (25) years’ experience in industry and academia in private, public and not – for- profit organizations having worked with KASNEB, MUA, KIM and BAT Kenya. As an industry practitioner, he has been a CEO for over ten (10) years. As a scholar (Senior Lecturer), he has taught in high schools and several Universities in Kenya. He has been a facilitator in several local and international conferences in public policy and corporate governance and executive leadership, published widely in revered journals and successfully supervised nine (9) PhD and over forty (40) Masters’ degree students from both public and private Universities. As an External Examiner for doctoral theses in leading Universities in the region, he has successfully handled over 20 candidates.

In 2020 Dr Letting’ was awarded the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) and in 2012 he received the Head of State of Commendation (HSC) both being Presidential recognitions for his contribution to the development of the country in the education sector. He is an active contributor on corporate governance (board related matters), executive and strategic leadership, finance and investments, education and training streams on business related as aspects among University and Technical Training Institutions and occasionally comments on emerging issues in both electronic and print media. He has been a Board/ Council Member of several private, public and not for profit organizations including the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), Karura Adventist School and the National Commission for Science Technology Innovations (NACOSTI). He has been a member of Multi – Agency Taskforces (MAT) in The National Treasury for the review of the Accountants’ Act and the Certified Secretaries’ Act amendments and drafting of regulations. He has volunteered in many societal development and humanitarian matters. He was a Council Member of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) during the formulation of the Competency Based Curriculum for the Basic Education in Kenya.

Mr. Henry Mustafa Parkolwa - Interim Treasurer

Mr. Parkolwa has over 30years experience working in the ASALs of Kenya addressing pastoral vulnerability to drought and climate change adaptation. He has worked in Baringo, Taita Taveta, Samburu, Laikipia and Marsabit Counties as the County Drought Coordinator for NDMA. In these counties, Mr Parkolwa helped to develop drought contingency and response plans and mobilized resources for response and resilience building. He coordinated biannual Food and Nutrition Security Assessments and identified strategic interventions to reduce household and livelihood vulnerabilities in the ASALs. Mr. Parkolwa led the mainstreaming of DRR and Climate Change Adaptation in the Counties CIDPs and AWPs for enhanced livelihoods.

Currently, Mr. Parkolwa works in Marsabit County as the County Drought Coordinator and a founder of 3CA4R, which is an NGO with intent of opening branch offices in Baringo, Laikipia, Elgeyo Marakwet, South Turkana and Samburu counties  to address climate change effects on pastoral livelihoods and other socio-economic challenges.

Dr. Annie Njuguna Njoki - Interim Secretary

Dr. Annie is currently the Interim Secretary, KSG Alumni Association (2020 to date). Dr. Annie is an enthusiastic professional, with proven leadership abilities in working as a team, handling multiple tasks, great adaptability to any enterprise’s environment, proactive, and excellent with open public relationship and an expert in computational experience skills. She currently head the Loans and Credit Unit at Uwezo Fund where her main task includes coordination of the Unit to ensure effective Fund Management, operational review and process proposals for funding presented from groups across Kenya’s constituencies. In addition, Dr. Annie provides leadership in development and implementation of policy guidelines that touch on the Loans and Credit management. Her personal leading philosophy is ‘there is an opportunity for everyone to make a difference, all you need is get started along the way, resources will align accordingly.’

Dr. Alice Chepkemoi Ruto - Interim Assistant Secretary

Dr. Alice Ruto is a Dryland Resources Management Expert with a vast practical fieldwork experience in sustainable use of Natural resources, Agriculture production and extension and Community Development. A holder of a PhD degree in Dryland Resource Management, a Master’s Degree in Rural Sociology and Community Development and Bachelor’s degree in General Agriculture. Alice is proficient in research and scientific communication and a research affiliate with the African Drylands Institute for Sustainability (ADIS), University of Nairobi and Sustainable land Management (SLM), Agropastoral Kenya

Dr. Alice, has been a Lecturer of Sustainable crop production in the dry lands, an E-learning course jointly offered then by the University of Nairobi and Colorado State University as well as a part time lecturer, Kenyatta University School of Agriculture and Enterprise Development 

Dr. Ruto background includes outstanding participatory experience in the rehabilitation of the Suswa gullies, Narok County under the Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Agro-Pastoral Production Systems of Kenya. The Project borne of partnership between the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Agriculture and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where her work included soil and water conservation, re-vegetation, the use of runoff water for crop production and keeping of small animals as an alternative livelihood for pastoralist.  

Dr. Alice has undertaken multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary assignments in Agriculture and Livestock Extension, Climate Change Mitigation/adaptation, Conservation Agriculture, Catchment approach to Soil and water Conservation, Farmer Field School extension approach, on farm wood fuel energy conservation, Participatory Natural Resources Management, Apiculture and in dryland Agriculture. Additionally, Dr. Ruto, is an Environmental Impact Assessment/Audit Expert, a trainer in Participatory Rural Appraisal and Participatory Analysis for Poverty and Livelihood Dynamics (PAPOLD), has Co-authored books for the Ministry of Agriculture for use by extension officers and is a member of various Professional Associations.
