India–Kenya Partnership: Advancing Knowledge, Innovation and Public Service Excellence
The Kenya School of Government (KSG) hosted a public lecture by the High Commissioner of India to Kenya, His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika, on the theme “Why India Matters to Kenya.” The lecture provided an opportunity to reflect on the depth of Kenya–India relations and their growing relevance to education, healthcare, trade, technology, innovation, culture and public administration.
For KSG, a key focus was the potential for public-sector learning and institutional collaboration. The High Commissioner highlighted the role of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme, through which Kenyan public servants have accessed training and capacity-building opportunities in India.
KSG Council Chairperson, Hon. Justice (Rtd.) Charles Nyachae, underscored the value of institutional partnerships in building public-sector capacity and fostering people-to-people connections.
KSG Director General, Prof. Nura Mohamed, noted that both Kenya and India have valuable experiences to share, creating opportunities for mutual learning in governance, economic development and institutional transformation.
The occasion also marked the inauguration of the India Corner Library at KSG, established with the support of the Government of India. The resource centre will provide KSG participants, researchers, faculty, staff and the wider public service with access to materials on India’s history, culture, development experience, governance and innovation.
The initiative opens further possibilities for joint research, executive training, study visits, policy dialogues, exchange programmes and knowledge-sharing between KSG and Indian institutions.
