KSG – SNA Training: Bridging between Policy & Implementation

The Kenya School of Government (KSG), in partnership with Italy’s Scuola Nazionale dell’Amministrazione (SNA), concluded a three-day in-person Public Policy and Governance Programme following a series of virtual learning sessions. The programme brought together participants from KSG, KIPPRA, Kisii University, the Public Service Commission, the National Treasury, and various government ministries to exchange governance experiences and strengthen public sector capacity.

The discussions focused on bridging the gap between policy design and implementation, emphasizing that effective governance depends not only on sound policies and adequate resources but also on strong institutions, capable public administrators, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. Participants explored lessons from the governance systems of Kenya and Italy, highlighting the importance of translating policy into tangible results for citizens.

Closing the programme, KSG Director General Prof. Nura Mohammed urged participants to champion effective policy implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, noting that meaningful transformation is achieved through action rather than policy formulation alone.

Facilitated by Prof. Edoardo Amato of SNA and Dr. Joseph Ndungu of KSG, the programme reaffirmed the value of international collaboration, comparative learning, and knowledge exchange in advancing responsive governance and improving public service delivery.
